ndururumo cia reggae
An hour of classic reggae music videos
The distinctive and popular reggae music features a heavy four-beat rhythm driven by drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, and the “scraper,” a corrugated stick that is rubbed by a plain stick.
At its evolution in Jamaica, reggae expressed the sounds and pressures of ghetto life and contained politicized lyrics that addressed social and economic injustice.
The show features music by the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, Lee (“Scratch”) Perry, and reggae’s biggest star Bob Marley amongst other artists.
